thanks. I would have loved to get more but the short days + my lack of car (not that I wanna drive in this slop!) limited me. Now it looks like the snow is melting, and fast! Slush time!

Terrific pics!!! Thanks so much for posting all of them!
I finally got my snow wish. We ended up heading up to Forest Grove for the holiday. Usually takes about 4hrs, it took us 10!!! Looong trip. But that was okay, we had kinda figured it would be, so had lots of munchies in the car, and things for everyone to do. Good thing too since we ended up behind the plows/scrappers on I5 and it literally took us 1hr to go 2 miles (well, it was technically 58minutes, but i thought it amusing how it was almost a perfect hour. lol)
anyhow, we got there fine, and spent a few days playing in the snow, then come in, warm up, only to go back out again.
I got me snow fix. hehe.
I do have one rather odd question....and I truly swear Im not asking it to start anything, I just really really do wonder.
See, when we were stuck on I5, an odd thing kept happening. We had almost a dozen vehicles do something I thought was a big "No-No!" we were in the far left lane, and these cars, what they did was get OUT of the lanes, and they were driving along and passing us on the side. You know, on the median and off the shoulder of the road. Really freaked me out because for one, i didnt think youre supposed to do that, and for two, since its really grassy and bushy, it was really bumpy and they were getting very very close to hitting our car (not to mention other peoples) anyhow, something I saw, was that almost all of these vehicles had california plates.(okay, all but 3 of them had cali plates) So I ws wondering, is that something that is done when traffic comes to a stop in California? Is it used like a "just passing" lane? Cuz i was getting kinda mad at these people, but then realized that maybe it IS something thats done differently in differnt states? Can anyone enlighten me, please?
Anyhow, LOVED the snow, LOVED taking tons of pics of the kids playing in it! And loved telling my friends who were bragging about all the snow days they had, that we still got to play in it all we wanted, but then were able to come home and not have to deal w/the aftermath as it starts melting. hehe. Evil yes, but whaddya do?

Ditto!!!

It really makes me homesick

I lived in Ptown from 1950 -1980 and I can't really remember ever getting that much snow (of course I could also be having a senior moment )...I can remember plenty of ice storms tho

OK so now I do remember a big snow storm it was the winter of errr ummmm 68 or 69 I can't remember which but I do remember getting stuck up on Mt. Hood at Gov. Camp (the VW wasn't in the mood) and having to hitch home and there was snow all they way down to vermont hills where my parents lived.

Nah. I think it's more to do with the fact that neither Californians nor bicylists are bound by the laws of ordinary folk on the road. They have to get somehwere, you know!

oh....I really was thinking maybe it was just a different law in other states...Or that its been so long since I got my own licence, that maybe it was okay now.
I wasn't trying to be rude or anything, i just have some real air brained moments...
Thanks for the heads up....

btw, what was really crazy, was going from 30degrees, then 4hrs south, it was almost 50degrees, even though it was later when we got home! weird...
