I cannot agree. If you were to bother opening up the population stats for Portland, Denver and nearly any other city you could name you would find roughly equal numbers of men and women. Since polygamy is illegal this also means roughly equal numbers of single men and women. For various social reasons women don't value promiscuous dating (bummer) nearly as much as men do. Men in singles bars want hook-ups and the women that frequent them know that. Obviously they want hook-ups as well. They are by far the minority. It's even worse online, men outnumber women in every age category by a factor of 6 or so. Obviously the 10:1 thing is a ridiculous exaggeration, it is more like 3:1 in the bars. No argument, dating is hard work. Blaming one's poor results on the women (or men) that are native to the area is silly. The real reason the average guy has trouble picking up a 12 (or a 6 for that matter) in a singles bar has more to do with the fact that he is an 'average' guy than any other reason one can concoct.

Bingo! nail on the head.

While I am out of that age range, every time I go to Portland, I see lots of attractive young women.

That's a pretty nice post, i was reading something related on another web page not too long ago that essentially said the same thing although yours is better,
plus its good to have some validation on seeing two sources agree.
