Default "Social Media" in Portland area?

It's been almost two years since my last post here. "Sometimes they come back."

Was curious if there were any social media outlets in the Portland/Vancouver area. Anything solid out that way similar to Facebook, Twitter, FriendFeed et al.?

Finally stumbled into my dream job working in this field. Love my organization, my job, and my day-to-day, but I find that I really miss rain and, what's worse, my wife was born and raised here and has recently expressed a desire to consider a move. Just curious if I would have to consider walking away from the perfect job to be able to enjoy more rain. (I am not a programmer, by the way.)

For those unfamiliar with the term "social media," I suggest reading up on it now, as it is the future, where the internet will permeate nearly every aspect of your life.

The problem is that social media requires a good number of social people to really be jumping, almost like a critical mass of posters. Most people out in Portland I know use facebook, nothing really specific to the PacNW area.

Thanks for the reply. I do appreciate it, but perhaps I should have been a bit more clear. I'm curious if there are any dot-coms in the Portland area that offer a social media type product/service. It's an emerging industry, despite rapid growth these days, so maybe it might be worth asking if anyone knows about any dot-coms in general.

Thanks again!
