I went to purchase a gun at a gun show and they told me I needed a background check.I gave them my social number and my finger prints and my driver number. Its been almost a month and they tell me I have to wait 3 more weeks and if I get my money back, the next time would be even longer.I am a foster parent and get a background check each year for 7 years ,and no problem. What can I do ?

Usually background checks take about 3 days for handguns and maybe a week at most (at least when a couple friends got a glock), sounds like this guy is being a jerk. It won't take longer next time even if you do, unless you use the same twit.

Wow this shows you how messed up Oregon is. In Idaho you walk into a store fill out the papework, the dealer makes a phone call to run your info then if you are clear you walk out with the rifle or handgun. You can just keep saying thanks to the gun control people while you wait.

Hummm, i guess it does happen (Story from a Sheriff and gun seller Oregon Firearms Federation) because of tighter controls for domestic violence convictions and the Brady act. It's not the norm in any way, and might need to be started from the beginning if stopped. Still seems like a jerk thing to do to me, but not the owners fault...the damn background checkers.

The original poster asked a similar question on the Las Vegas forum so it's hard to determine where he bought this gun and what the problem is:
