Have you even been to the cities you disparaged? Or are you being closed-minded and intolerant?

Just because those cities do not fit in to your mold of what a great city is does not mean that they are "wretched".

I've been to Oklahoma City. Its actually much nicer than most people think. The Oklahoma City National Memorial is beautiful.

We'll, Portland has beards, beer and books galore...that's good enough for me.

I always thought more BO more manly myself.

I just can't stand Ohio...of course I grew up a PA boy with South West Chili

Of course we felt Pete Rose in Phili too, oh geez! I wasn't even alive when that happened and was taught the guilt of that episode!

Can't say as that list has a place for me, (but then I don't do 'cities' well). I don't see ND, WY, or SD.

Go Bismarck, RC, & Cheyenne, tho all are much too large for me. Go Bowbell, ND, Lily, SD, and Orpha, WY.

Plenty of manliness to go around those towns, I'll Guarantee it. (and probably more than in Portland, tho who cares, certainly not the majority of voters.)

Nascar? Tool stores? I think this study should be named the most "poser manly cities". True manliness would be not giving a crap about what some moronic promotional study says about how "manly" your city is. It's about being independent, thinking for yourself, having a sense of self outside of mass culture, etc. On these facets I bet Portland would rank pretty high.

oh, and "Real men™" certainly don't eat frickin' Combos if they can help it. I know they taste good but they are god awful for you.

and BO is manly, for the most part (unless it's really bad). Industrial chemicals to make yourself smell nice is a female specialty.

Well, I wouldn't be one to "diss" anybody's city - if people are happy living in any of those cities, let them love it! I lived in Charlotte for 14 years and absolutely loved it - it is one of the most beautiful cities overall that I have ever lived in. Portland is great also - as a matter of fact, Portland reminds me a lot of Charlotte except for the river! Who cares how "manly" a city is - I think that is d-u-m-b! Have a great day and enjoy wherever you live!

Hey, Portland had a place for a year or two that served Cincinnati style chili. It was great having it nearby. I sure wish someone would open an Gold Star which I loved patronizing while visiting Cincinnati a few years back. Homemade is probably better, but it was pretty dang good.

I liked Cincinnati a lot. Though I must say, the downtown was really rundown, and didn't feel terribly safe.

Hope it's improved.

I'm guessing they don't count books as very manly.

I wonder if they make a distinction if the books have T&A.
