that's high praise coming from Boston which has got some pretty astounding architecture in it's own right. Of course, it's also got the influx of banal "triple deckers". One interesting thing about Portland is that I can't think of a boring vernacular type of housing, no "Vancouver Special". It all looks good, at least until you get out past 82nd Ave and the outer suburbs.
