I'll admit that all the talk of beer in that first paragraph would make you think Portland, OR.

I've always heard the one in Maine has a very high cost of living but it's a very nice city.

Portland Oregon is named after Portland Maine... it would have been named Boston Oregon but a coin toss was won by Francis Pettygrove and he named it.

I dunno. I think it should be pretty cheap as it isnt Boston or anything close to it. Its got that same feel as Portland OR in a different smaller more limited sort of way. Some breweries come out of there like Sea Dog. A blue collar brewery out by the ocean like how Portlands breweries are in the great north. Id say a tad a similar feel but Portland ME is no cigar compared to OR.

I live in Portland, Maine and am moving in three months to Portland, Oregon. They are not that different really, in fact I have meet many people who go between the two places.

Portland, Maine is right on the ocean and is surrounded by very beautiful islands off Casco Bay. The ocean defines the city and is really spectacular since it is always changing. The economy is not as bad as it is in Oregon, yet good jobs have never been plentiful.

I look forward to moving to Oregon since it is a lot larger yet still offers a nice neighhborhood feel.
