Quite the opposite. I was told that L.O. has very low racial diversity (even by Portland's limited diversity standards) at least 3 times in the 1st two weeks after I got here. Two people I have meet in Portland use a broad brush to stereotype residence's who live in L.O. and close neighboring communities as all being racially intolerant social conservatives. I doubt that is true for everyone around L.O.

Be aware, L.O. residences also have the reputation of encouraging social / economic / and cultural stratification as well as racial / foreign / ethnic heritage stratifications. IMHO, most of that reputation might be mostly undeserved and just might be the result of political conservative discrimination and slanderous stereotyping by the very liberal population of Portland proper.

As for the rumour that L.O. is a strong hold of a few intensely loyal supporters V.P. Dick Cheney and ultra conservative GOP politics, I cannot say.
