no offense-but a big ~whew~ that you're leaving the area. Who needs to be around someone with such a bad attitude. Funny thing is: you'll gladly work here and make big $$$ all the while biotching and moaning about the people and the place. Something seems very wrong with that.

PDX is not known as being a place with mean people like Philadelphia or Detroit, but......
am I running into all the people from there that have moved to Portland or something? :>(

I don't like the people here. I can't even really explain it, but I've yet to meet someone I could actually see myself hanging out with more than once.
The city dies down so quickly. Delivery is impossible. Lunch options are limited.
There is so much, but it also pretty vague. But whenever I go out, I just feel an urge to run away from everything in this town.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I have been here for about 4 years. I love this place and I have lived all over the world.
You want to meet people who share your views and have interesting conversations, they search out a group from meetup.
You want to go somewhere interesting for lunch, try the food carts pods all over downtown and Hawthorne and on Alberta. There is an amazing food cart culture here, I just discovered it cause I am now unemployed and have the time to check out new places on the cheap.
You want interesting and unusual things to do? Try reading one of the local papers, like Willamette Week or Mercury News. There are many different districts in this wonderful place called Portland where there is always something new to try. Just open yourself up to the experience of it. Take it for what is it and no, I am not one of those eco-friendly, sustainable, gluten free, lactose free, patchouli wearing people. Just a middle of the road broad with so much left to experience in Portland.
Again, I am sorry you don't considered this your slice of heaven, perhaps the next place will be more to your liking.
(Disclaimer, I tried to keep the snark to a minimum and really did mean to be helpful)

It really stinks that someone who hates this place is making big bucks while there is 12% and counting unemployment.
Like someone else here said, don't let the door hit your a.ss on the way out.

Ease up, folks. We all have different tastes and everyone is entitled to hold and express an opinion.
If every US citizen loved Oregon to the point they had to move there, the place would get really crowded, wouldn't it?
