Default Citywide WiFi in Portland?

What is the status of the city-wide WiFi that Portland tried to establish a few years ago? Kaput?

Yup. Pretty much kaput. What they did manage to get up and going was very poor - didn't work inside etc. I think the whole thing was just dropped.

Portland is now one of the test markets for Clear.com High Speed Mobile Internet Service Provider - looks like a better service than the city network was.

I remember trying to utilize the citywide service (metrofi) as my main internet for a few months when I first moved here a couple years ago, to save cash. For a while it wasn't bad but I gave up rather quick and got myself a subscription to qwest. The guy who lived a floor below yelled at me for banging my chair in aggravation over it's slowness.
