Default Portland No. 1 in U.S for courteous driving

The National Road Rage Survey Ranks Portland Most Courteous City in the U.S. I wholeheartedly agree with this survey. I used to live in Dallas, TX and they have so many accidents due to tailgating. I was hit two or three times.
Clip:
The commute to work can be an unpleasant one for people
across the country, but the road is smooth for Portland drivers.
The fourth annual In the Driver’s Seat Road Rage Survey, commissioned by
AutoVantage, a leading national auto club, found that Portland is the most courteous city in
the country in terms of road rage, compared to 24 other major American cities. Last year,
Portland ranked No. 2.
Vaulting it to the top spot this year, Portland drivers ranked No. 1 on several “most
courteous” categories: Portland motorists are least likely to honk their horn or curse at other
drivers, least likely to observe other drivers running through red lights and, tied with
Cleveland and Philadelphia, least likely to observe others cutting over with little or no
warning.

Doesn't surprise me. I have always found Portland drivers to be very courteous. Someone can sit at a light that has switched from red to green for ten seconds or more and all the cars behind will just wait patiently...no horn honking here.

Nice to avoid another form of air polution. Thanks fellow Portlandians!

I noticed that there is a lapse between light changes. Someone explained that when people from CA moved here they crash lights. So people became a little cautions before rushing into an intersection. I'm fine on the road here, it's the poorly designed parking lots I don't like. Also, suburban mommies in suvs's, three kids on board and talking on cell phones when they back out with out looking.

I've said as much since moving to the area 7 months ago. How refreshing to be on roads with courteous drivers.
I could tell horror stories about the road rage driving on the gulf coast. I think the heat/humidity had fried a few brains there.

I can believe that! One thing that struck me when we visited NOLA were the drivers in the French Quarter. Drivers would literally scream and honk their horns at other drivers for stopping at a four-way stop sign! I laughed the first few times, because I couldn't believe it! WTH

I just don't think that would go over too well here. Some cowboy from south county (aka south Clackamas County) would whoop them upside their heads!

I had several errands to run today, and everyone on the road let others cut in, cross the street, etc. That really make you feel good, doesn't it?

Wow, I've never considered moving to Portland, but with that statistic, maybe I should. I hate driving in my area. I've never seen such impatient childishness and distracted driving in my life.

LOL SeeBee and for real when driving in Mobile, down I10 my daughter and I would guess whether the road rage driver we could see ahead of us was from Al, Ms or La.

Louisianna drivers typically run right up on your tail, ride your a$$ then pass doing about 100 + MPH.
Ms. drivers swerve, speed then cut you off.
Al drivers flip you the finger, honk their horns, try to run you off the road and some even pull off the road and wait for the driver they've been taunting to come down the road so they can further torment them.

I kid you not.

Hmm, Portland and Seattle drivers usually tend be at the top of these studies, but I noticed Seattle was nowhere to be found in this one. I wonder if things are finally deteriorating in Sea-town. (I've noticed this pattern for decades, but maybe it is finally true...Portland drivers ARE more courteous than Seattle drivers). Thoughts?

Portland drivers need to stop driving slow in the fast lane.
