Chicago style pizza?
We have recently move to the Rose City and I am searching for a good Chicago style pizza place that offers real deep dish. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I'm sorry to say that I have yet to find a real Chicago-style pizza place here. Apizza Scholl's on Hawthorne is really, really good but it's thin crust style. Ken's Artisan Pizza on SE 28th is also very good but not Chicago-style. We have resorted to getting Giordano's sent via FedEx when we need a pizza fix. It's expensive but totally worth it. You can order it directly from their web site. I'm curious to see if anyone else has any other suggestions...

Thanks for the tip, at this point even good thin crust would be great.

I know a friend that has been getting his beef from Al's and pizza's from 1-800-Lou-to-go. He actually went back and learned how to cook everything from the guy that runs Gulliver's which is the same as Lou's recipe. He'll make you a pie that will blow your socks off. You need to pay for the ingredients, the pizza pan, and give him $10 for labor/delivery. He does it as a hobby. You can email him at portland@consultant.com. He makes pizza 2x a month for friends.

Yo, Dudes....
Know of a real good place for cannoli in Portland OR? Like Chicago Pie, followed by a Mint flavored Cannoli, made with real dairy cream, and good ricotta? Or that cannoli they make for the Wisconsin Tourist trade in Chicago, which was (is?) a Cannoli filled with real whipped Butter Cream Frosting and a splash of Creme-de-Menthe?
Chicago is still a good eating town. Maybe not exactly low-cholesterol eating, but GOOD tasting. Just need a place or two in Portland.

That sounds pretty awesome. I might have to give this a try.
Before I moved out here I made sure to visit the fab 5 in my last few remaining months in Chicago... Lou's, Due, Uno, Gino's, Giordano's.
For those who have mail ordered pizza, how is the freshness / taste?

I have lived here 30 something years and never found the equivalent of deep dish Chicago pizza. You can order on line from Lou Malanotti's though. It costs a fortune but once a year I indulge. You can also order Carson's ribs and Italian Beef sandwich makings from Lou's website.
