kids sports in Silverton Oregon (Salem, Canby: middle school, live in, moving to)

We are moving to Silverton Oregon, and I have a 5 year old and 13 year old, both boys. Is there any sort of sport teams for these age groups there or will we have to go to Salem for that? My son is a huge into baseball and has been playing for 8 years. I would like to get him back on a team right away. Does anyone know anything about the sports there? thanks!

Yep Silverton has youth sports. Football, Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, Tennis, Track & Field, Cross Country, Volleyball, Swimming. Pretty much anything to keep your kids active!

oh great! thanks! Do you live in Silverton? Are there things outside of the schools? My 5 year old really wants to start soccer. I am so excited that all that is available, it will make the move to a smaller area much easier for my oldest!

No i live about 5 miles outside of Silverton and when i went to Canby we occasionally played Silverton in sports and they have a pretty strong athletic program!

Um im pretty sure there is Kindergarten age soccer but not 100%...not really sure how you would find out about that one either lol

Silverton canned their little league program about a year ago but I think Mt Angel (5 minutes away) still has theirs. Youth soccer is strong and football also. Basketball fills the other major void. Salem is 15-20 mins away and has everything, a big soccer field complex on the east side of town toward Silv. Silverton used to be a strong football contender about 15 years ago but has been an "also ran" since. Girls basketball was huge when Steers coached it at the 3A level but when they had to move up it faded out.
