Default Comedy Clubs in Portland...

little help...please...I'm on my knees...

Okay, so the skies will be gray from Thanksgiving to Easter...(I have to admit, I had to verify if that patented combo of black and white was spelled "grey"...or "gray".)...I think both work.

I'm from Chicago...Dismal winters are normal. (Go Bears!)

So, do the gorgeous people in Portland really love comedy?
They do???...HOLY SH#T!!!

PLEASE tell me about the comedy clubs.
Thank you. Never before have I allowed myself to be this submissive and obedient in my entire life.

Ronnie

Default Thank you, burnhams...

Thank you, burnhams.
I'll call them Monday. I appreciate it.
I think that may be the only comedy club.
It surprises me because Portland is a big city - you'd think there would be 3 or 4.

Have a good Sunday! Go Bears! (5:00 on NBC)

That's the only stand-up comedy club as far as I know. And they don't seem to get national acts. There are a number of improv comedy troupes:

The Brody Theater - The best in improvised theater, comedy, and classes in Portland, Oregon

ComedySportz™ Portland | The Interactive Improv Experience

Curious Comedy Theater

There are a few other troupes, but the three above all have their own performing space.

Default Thank you, emh....

Thanks, emh!
I added those three to my Favorites.
It's a good start for me. At least I'll be able to meet like-minded people...(comics, actors, writers, etc.)...

Ronnie-

There is a dearth of comedy clubs here, but the scene is improving, largely due to the hugely successful Bridgeport Comedy Festival. I haven't been to Harvey's because I hear again and again how much it sucks. Nor have I been to the Brody, but when Upright Citizen's Brigade came through that's where they performed. (Sold out, missed it, damn.) There is a weekly stand-up night on Mondays at a bar called Suki's in SW Portland. I checked it out not too long ago, and there were easily 20 people signed up. It's hosted by a guy named Dax Jordan. I've also heard about a Tuesday night gig called the Ed Forman Show, but have yet to check it out.

Seems to me there's a large demographic interested in "alternative" comedy here in Portland, which is promising. Lots of national acts pass through and perform often at these theaters: Aladdin, Hawthorne, Newmark, and the Mission to name a few. Hmm, that might not be as relevant to your question, but can you dig it?
