Default Where do the "normal" people hang out?

Hope the use of the term "normal" doesn't offend anyone! I'm single, early 30's, and new in town from Texas(work related move). I've been out a few times in hopes of meeting a cute boy however there seem to be an abundance of "hipster" and "indie" types everywhere. I would just like to meet a regular working class guy who works out, wears regular jeans(not skinny jeans), is not full of tattoos(a few are ok),does not have a bunch of piercings or outrageous hairstyle...someone I can introduce to my old fashioned southern Dad without holding my breath. Lol.
I'm not incredibly picky or superficial. Just looking for normalcy if that makes sense. Please tell me where to go! Thanks so much! :-)
ps- not trying to insult the hipsters out there. i love your city!

Kittypawz11:

Portland is *NOT* a typical cookie-cutter suburban American town. It has its own unique flavor and rhythm. It is all about the neighborhood and it's association. What you described to be looking for is standard basic urban/suburban-heartland type of youthful hangout. Inner, and near-inner city Portland is not the place to meet some guy to intro your dad to; Dallas, Chicago, or Atlanta type dads anyway.

You need to get out to Portland's edges. Don't look for your described ideal hook-up on SE Hawthorn. You should look for a party place out on SE (or NE) 122nd or eastwards, Beaverton and the West of Portland, and maybe even Gladstone to the south. Maybe someone could suggest somewhere in or around Clackamas town center. (Some one already suggested looking North.)

Or also try the near southwest side of town, Hillsdale and Multnomah village center; I do admit these two places are more early 30's married and maybe divorced type of places. The trick here is to just find these two hidden jems. There is also a place I have only heard about, just west of Hollywood district, called Sullivan's Gulch on SE Broadway around 23rd or so. More laid back I have heard, but I haven't been there after sun down.

Good luck.

The are plenty of bars downtown that aren't full of hipsters. There are a few on burnside. I know the one on Burnside across from Powell's (Burnside between 10th and 11th next to buffalo exchange) have a dress code that is very strict. Although it may be a club too, I wouldn't know. A hipster wouldn't even get in.

Kitty,
If you have a Texas accent then I'll apply. I love country music, wear jeans, no tattoos and am not a freak.

I keep Portland weird because I'm normal

PM me some images.
