Sorry so long to reply.

Yes to "a little more wild and voiced than the kids at the other schools". Yes to "there was more to it." Yes, we played in towns even smaller than Cascade Locks and Stevenson (and bigger towns.)

I've coached in many of the garden spots...Echo, Wallowa, Condon, Ione, Maupin, Arlington, Powder Valley, Ukiah, Spray, Long Creek, Mitchell, Moro, Lyle, and many other 1A schools. Also the big towns like Umatilla, Stanfield, Pilot Rock, Heppner, as well as the big city like Baker, La Grande, Burns, Pendleton, Hermiston, Prineville. (Also coached in actual cities in other states as well.)

...and that unfortunately was my experience at Cascade Locks.

I do have to say that the OSAA and the leagues I coached in took stronger stands against poor sportsmanship and did more to promote good sportsmanship among the schools than any other state I've coached in. Some towns and schools did a fantastic job with it, some not so good.

Talking I Love Estacada

Estacada is a great little city-only 1/2 hour away from Portland, OR. Sure the oudated Safari Club is still here...now a chinese restaurant. But, this little city pop 2695 has been my home since 1992. I've raised 2 kids and have successfully owned a service related business here.
The beautiful Clackamas River is in our backyard. You can raft or kayack the river or hike up one of the trails. If you enjoy camping or boating put in @ North Fork resevour. If you enjoy disc golf go play @ McIver ot Timber park. The state hwy (224) that runs through our city is currently under an ODOT beautification project. The 1st phase will be completed by Christmas 2009. The paving portion will be done next spring. Estacada is a great place to live, do business and raise a family.

LOL Whit - I just followed up your Estacada post with a shout-out for Granny's. Hey, just out of curiousity, I've been through Estacada MANY MANY times (including the reservoir & McIver!), but not in the past 5 years or so. You mentioned multiple coffee shops downtown Estacada. I only remember one coffee shop. Are the rest recent additions? How late are they open?
