Default Lloyd District--Is it Safe?

I found a good apartment in this area and I don't care about living in the hip parts of Portland, but I wanted to be sure it would be okay and there weren't drive by shootings or anything lol

Thanks...

The neighborhood of Lloyd Center is very commercial. Of course, the area is dominated by the mall. Overall, it doesn't have much of a neigborhood feel to it. I guess it depends where you live though. The closer you get to 15th the nicer the area. 15th and Weidler, just south of Irvington, is nice.

The area is close to a max line, which can be great, but it also attracts a lot of teens, as does the mall and nearby movie theater. I have never had a problem, but I imagine some people may feel a bit uncomfortable.

If you're looking for an apartment there are many areas I would choose before Lloyd Center unless easy access to the max was a priority.

Thanks for the advice!
Unfortunately I'm on a very limited budget (recent college grad) so I don't think I'll end up with much of a choice on the neighborhood. I'm right around the MAX line at 7th street.

Are the teens that are around the mall basically harmless? We are three women in our early 20s and I know I'll be coming home from work at around 8 at night and later on weekends. Do they tend to pickpocket/sell drugs?

Sorry to sound paranoid, but I'm moving from accross the country and know nothing about the area.
