It's Highway 10, but the name changes to Farmington Road as you head west. If you're on Google Maps, look for Canyon Road/TV Highway (Hwy 8). Beaverton-Hillsdale should be the next major road south of Canyon.

We live in Cedar Mill, and it is great. I don't know what sort of prices you're looking for, but my favorite neighborhood of all is the Oak Hills neighborhood. It's a sub development, but not like the new ones. It's a neighborhood with only a couple roads that connect to main roads. Quiet, HOA keeps it nice, a couple churches, parks, and an elementary school. It's my dream. Haha.
I don't want to step on toes here, but it seems to me parts of Aloha & getting out towards Hillsboro are more seedy. I agree with Davefr about the areas he recommended.
Beaverton really is a nice place to live. Not as expensive as Portland proper, but not a bad drive (except at rush hours!)

Hillsboro, although slightly further west could also be a good option. I'd avoid Cornelius, overall, though. Beaverton was the up and coming area where many people wanted to be about 10 years ago. Since then, it has aged somewhat, but many of the neighborhoods have beautiful trees curvey streets and nice homes.
If you are unsure and have very limited time to search for a home to buy, finding a rental for a year can give you time to decide more specifically on what neighborhood would be the best fit.
It sounds like you'll be working in Beaverton as well? If the job issue is settled, then that will help substantially in your decision making. If it is not settled, or if you'll be commuting to downtown Portland, you may want to take into consideration a very congested drive in... depending on the time of day.
There is all sorts of neighborhood association information available... You can also explore YouTube for driving pictures through some of the areas to get an idea. Google Maps at the street view can help in actually "seeing" what a street looks like from that level.
Happy hunting!
