I can't answer for other people who are moving out of Portland, but for me personally, I can't wait to get out of here because of the congestion. I'd be interested to know why others have left, though.

I was born and raised in Oregon, we left due to construction jobs, big builders dont want to pay small subs decent money to live on, Oregon is pretty, but so glad to be out of the rain!! Its a big world and we are having fun checking it out, we live in NC Now but are moving to AZ for more work. Miss my mom but that is about it.

my mom is moving out of Portland and to Bend for several reasons, the traffic, the congestion, and getting away from 9months of grey gloomy skies. - The air quality in Bend is so much better too, and the area of laid back friendly people in Portland seems to be shrinking. Kinda becoming a mini-sub of California too imo.

I agree with all of your mom's reasons for leaving. I have family living in Bend, and I absolutely love it there. It's becoming slightly more congested due to the rapid growth it has seen in the last few years, but they seem to be on top of it, as more and more plans are in the works for improving roads to allow for the increased traffic.

Jim,
just curious, why are you moving to Portland w/o a job or home?
