Default Neighborhood for 20-Somethings

We're thinking of moving to Portland. We're in our late 20's, married, professionals - probably kids in the next few years. We don't want to live right downtown Portland.

We're looking to buy with a budget around $450k. Any recommendations for cool neighborhoods with a good community, shops / bars / restaurants, and younger population?

Thanks!

Mt Tabor, Hawthorne, Sellwood, NW 23rd, Hollywood, Irvington, Laurelhurst, whatever that neighborhood on Capitol Hwy in SW is called near Wild Oats, the Killingsworth/33rd area/Alberta area (up and coming, watch carefully to make sure you're in the "up" part).
