So, I have read alot to avoid Aloha in my home search. Can someone tell me the rough boundary for this unincorporated area?

I am currently looking at a place just off Farmington and SW209th.

Is this Aloha? The address says Beaverton, but it looks to be unincorporated in that area. Is it Beaverton? Aloha? Something else?

Help!

There are good and bad parts of both Beaverton and Aloha. It all depends on the area. Anyone making a blanket statement to avoid Aloha is foolish.

Farmington and 209th isn't too bad but gets very nice and upscale to the South as you get into the Cooper Mtn area.

I believe that is considered "unincorporated Washington County." I have lived in two places that were not too far from this, and that was basically how both were categorized - you could have people send your mail to Beaverton, Hillsboro, or Aloha, and it got there. (Plus different utility bills etc had different city names.)

At any rate, I'm pretty sure you are not within Beaverton city limits there.

Again, anyone making blanket statements about Aloha, Beaverton, Hillsboro.. or any other community doesn't know what they are talking about. If you are looking for a house to buy rent in the general area you are considering until you get to know it well. If you are renting don't sign a long lease until you know both the area and the building. There can be troubled buildings in the 'best' neighborhood.

I agree with what the other posters have said. Farmington and 206th is considered Aloha (a part of unincorporated Beaverton), and there are some very nice houses near that intersection. I live nearby, so I drive past there all the time. It's also close to the edge of the urban growth boundary, so it's close to open farm land.

You live in Unincorporated Washington County. Aloha is merely a community, not a "town".

There is no clear-cut line to the boundaries. Off Farmington the Beaverton city limits end at 170th & Tillamook, and off TV Hwy it ends at 170th on the north side, but extends to 185th on the east side from Baseline. (Much of 185th's upper west side is Hillsboro.)

What is your zip code? If it's 97007, or 06, then Beaverton services your mail; thus, you use Beaverton as your "address". If it's 97123 then it's Hillsboro.

I know ~ clear as mud.

I have solved your problem. No need to thank me.

Aside from my smartass comments, I lived in King City (the South side of Aloha) for about a year and found Aloha to be a pretty nice place all-in-all. I used to drive through often to make my way into Beaverton and have never heard anyone comment negatively toward it.

The area in question is outside the City of Beaverton but is inside the Beaverton School District. Within the next 100 years, they plan to expand the city limits to coincide with the school district, but they're in no hurry.

Pretty much anything you want to know about boundaries can be found here at the Metro site

I would just offer that the property taxes in unincorporated Washington County are a good bit lower, certainly than Multnomah County.

I use the following site to look up city boundaries. Not sure how truly accurate it is. Aloha, Oregon Zip Code Boundary Map (OR)
