My husband and I are thinking of moving to Portland this summer, but our concerns are for our pets. We have 2 large dogs and 2 cats. We want to find housing for us and them that will be open to having them around, but have had a very hard time in the past. Any suggestions for us?

If you are wanting to rent, I would say Yes, you will continue to have a hard time finding a place in Portland.

Portland landlords tend to be tolerant of one pet, and the size of the pet maters.

Still, there may be a landlord who will rent you a single detached home with yard, but fully expect a huge security deposit and higher rent.

Are you in a position to purchase a small home?

Phil

PS: this presumes of course you have a job waiting for you when you get here. Unemployment is high right now, as so many other places is USA. But in Portland, being new to area and unemployed is tough enough to find rental housing, add your pets, and you are going to have a bucket of woes find a place to live.

I wish you luck.

The Sunset Summit Apartments on Barnes Road seem really pet friendly. They accept large dogs, and I always see people walking their dogs around the complex.
