Default Commute from Lake Oswego/West Linn to Downtown

I will be moving from Eugene to Portland for work soon and I am curious about the commute. I will be working downtown (in Fox Tower) and my family is considering living in either Lake Oswego or West Linn. Is that a hellacious daily commute or not too bad?

Would we be better off living in a neighborhood like Bridlemile or Sylvan Highlands? As you can probably tell, schools are a big concern.

Any input appreciated.

We are in the process of relocating too. Lake Oswego is the place to live. We registered our teenage daughter in L.Oswego High. I was told Lakeridge is as good. Commute takes ~ 20-25 minutes to OHSU.

Do you know anything about the GATE program at LO High? I've heard it's a great high school but I don't have any specifics. What about art/music/theater?

Thanks

Default We are in West Linn

The commute is fairly easy. You can hop on the freeway or go down a local road (43). The schools were rated very high in Lake Oswego and West Linn. We like West Linn because it is such a great family area. Lots of young kids around and families everywhere. There are several beautiful parks in the area and you can get much more for your money. Either way I think you would be happy.

West Linn to downtown via Hwy 43 will take you about 25 mins...if there is no traffic it is about 15 mins. If schools are your number one priority then you should definitly stick with West Linn or Lake Oswego!

Lake Oswego is a great place to live! It is convenient to downtown and to SW Portland and easy access to either I5 or I205. Besides just a great environment and small town feel. Schools are incredible! West Linn is further south and in my opinion not as convenient to downtown unless you stay on the Hwy 43 side. The closer to I205 the harder and longer the commute.

And...if you are looking for a home - I would be happy to help. Lake Oswego, West Linn, and Tigard, OR Real Estate – Star Moore
