Hey there,
So I got an internship that is located near Washington park for the summer, and I am looking for temporary housing (and maybe a little information about the neighborhoods in the area) for the 3 months that I will be there.

I was wondering where the best places to stay will be that are near that area and kind of vibrant (or within driving/public transportation distance of vibrant areas) that are fairly reasonable in price. Also, are there any neighborhoods that you need to be careful of in this area?

Thanks so much for any input! I really appreciate it!

I would look for room mate situations around Portland State. Many students leave for the summer so your need for housing would mesh with their need to cover the rent for the summer.

Start by finding out (thru your contact at the place you will be working at) just how close the MAX light rail "Zoo Stop" is from the office. I presume you are young and healthy, so a bit of a walk won't hurt you.

The go to the System Map and look up the Red and Blue Max lines:
TriMet: Public Transportation for the Portland, Oregon, Metro Area
Both stop at the underground MAX station, and its an elevator ride up to ground level.

Nice walk to Washington Park from elevator.

If I was you, I would live along the Street car route in the Pearl, or up on NW 23rd street area, and ride the street car to the MAX stop near 10th heading west.
