Default Thinking of moving to the Portland Area

Hi,

My husband and I are considering a move to the Portland area. What are the best areas to live with a property tax of no more than $3500 per year. We would like an area outside of Portland but close enough for employment. We love trees, water, a little space (houses not on top of eachother), views (if affordable), hiking, snow sports, soccer (we hear an MLS team may be coming to Portland), culture, diverse politics, peaceful environments and a place that we will stay and retire. If you have any suggetions, I would enjoy reading them! Thanks!

I'm looking to move to the "city" so I'm afraid I can't offer much help. From what I've read there are many "suburbs" that would fit your needs. Not sure what end of the city you'll have to go to get snow. I'm sure some of the locals here can give you some good input.

Supernova 7 - Thanks for your response. The city is good too. I love Portland, but I also enjoy a little space. Seattle, San Francisco and Vancouver are also great cities.

Yes, they are. But they will cost you more money. Moving is never easy, trust me I know. You have to know yourself and what you're seeking. I'm a city person, grew up in the burbs and will never live in them again. I need culture, entertainment, options and variety. Anyhow, I'm sure someone local will give you some good advice as to locations suited to your needs.
