FYI--Paul Linnman is now the morning radio personality on 1190KEX (am radio).
They always give him a bunch of flack on the yearly anniversary of the exploding whale.

It happened 8 years before I moved to Portland but everyone talked about it as though it was just the day before and the news media had a field day remembering it each year. Eventually they stopped acknowledging it but it was so funny when they went back and showed the film. It must have been quite a sight and from what witnesses stated quite a smell.

Dead whales beach in the NW regularly and if left to rot on the shore create quite a stink.
