I purposely didn't name my kids after anyone to avoid this sort of thing. My MIL "requested" that my daughters middle name be Margaret, after her mother but I said no, I had other ideas. Later, her own daughter (my SIL) had a couple girls and used that as the middle name for one of them, she also used the feminine version of a recently deceased uncle for the other. Some people are into the whole "naming kids after..." thing, I just wasn't. I did read up on it and discovered that just using the first letter, so anything that starts with an "R", is considered appropriate too.
