My friend went to one in a strip mall. Brought all her friends with her to watch...it was surreal, a roomful of teenagers watching a pregnant teenager get an ultrasound. She was broke, the father was long gone before she found out she was pregnant, yet somehow she came up with over $100 for this ultrasound.

Yeah, there are some places that do it and it's not in a medical office. When I say mall places, I mean anywhere that's not in a doctor's office but yes, some malls do have these establishments!

I got one done. I wasn't expecting it, was just having a normal ultrasound done but the doctor asked if I wanted to have a quick look in 3D/4D and it was amazing - she looked like a freaky little alien! Got some nice pictures too It was free for me but I think it would be well worth 100 dollars or so if you got a lot of pictures or a dvd.

At the doctor I go to, it is routine. I didn't have to ask for it or pay extra, they just did it at my 21 week appointment to find out the gender. Most of the ultrasound was done in 2D but the tech switched to 3D to get a good face picture It's amazing to actually see the baby's face. It makes me wonder what ultrasounds will be like for the next generation.

I'm on baby #4. Never had one. Never offered one by my OB and I never asked.

I had one in a round about way. I was just getting a regular Level 2 Ultrasound, all the sudden the tech pushed a little button and "went 3D", even gave me some printouts. It was unexpected and really cool. I was billed at the rate of a "normal" 20 week screening and insurance covered it as I had met my deductible.
