I have seen others have them on TV or read about it. I have seen the pictures which are pretty amazing. Are they ever covered under insurance and if not, how much do they run? How did it make you feel to see your baby in 3D?
I had 2 for my daughter while I was pregnant. The first one was paid for by me out of pocket because I wanted to find out the gender at 13 weeks. The 2nd at 21 weeks was done by my OB and was covered by insurance, alot of the OB's in my city use the 3D ultrasounds now.
I absolutely LOVED it. And the 21 weeks one actually looks just like her newborn pics.
I think it is pretty standard at most places. They gave me a few 3d u/s pix from both of my pregnancies. I did not even know it was an option with my first, the tech at my on office just did it.
My OB also does 3D u/s which was covered by insurance.
There are places that do elective baby 3D u/s and usually if you look in local parenting magazines, you'll find their ads. These places will ask that you either bring your OB permission or proof that you've done an u/s before during your current pregnancy. It should be around $120-135ish, which (from my experience, different places offer different deals) should include lots of pictures and the whole session recorded on DVD.

It is not standard here in Chicago. Also, my first son I had in Seattle and they didn't offer it either. Im 22 weeks now and just had a regular ultra sound.
I have been to both Illinois Masonic and Northwestern Memorial Hospital here in Chicago.

I spent $75 on the first one. I did NOT get the DVD though. I also paid $35 for a build a bear sort of bear and they recorded my daughters heartbeat and put it inside the bear so when I squeeze it you hear her heartbeat. Out of everything thats my favorite. I wish I would have gotten it with my first daughter who passed away.
I paid out of pocket at 30+ weeks. I think it was $150 and we got a whole bunch of images printed out and all of the images on CD. It was purely for "entertainment" purposes and not medical. I assumed insurance wouldn't pay for it but it looks like I'm wrong. I think it's worth it. My mom looked at the pictures and would compare them to after she was born. It was fun! I got it done at my OB/GYN's office though. I wouldn't trust my belly with any of those "mall" places but that's just my personal opinion.
