Since I was told my niece has everything she needs, I'm interested in finding the most extravagant and unnecessary baby gift.

Any ideas?

A really ornate antique stroller where the baby can lie down while you take a walk. I wished I had one when my son was a brand new baby so he didn't have to sleep all uncomfortably.

why not make a first and sizeable donation to a 529 college account. Throughout the years others can contribute on special occasions and before you know it some substantial bucks can add up.

We had a family member who announced that she had everything before her baby shower so the entire family showed up at her shower with beautifully wrapped boxes and we all gave her a bunch of boxes of
"Nothing" since she already had everything.

She was stunned at first then starting laughing so hard, she thought it was hysterical. We actually did not give her nothing though, we had all pooled our resources and bought a CD for the baby and presented it to her after all the boxes of nothing were opened.

She appreciated that very much and still laughs about that shower to this day and the baby is now 30 years old and that CD kept rolling over and helped with expenses when she was getting her PhD.

good story. But today a CD is worth practically less than the paper it is printed on because of such low rates.

She may *think* she has everything, but I bet she doesn't.

The best baby shower gift that I received was from our niece. She bought all kinds of small items, i.e. baby nail clippers, baby hair brush, baby wash cloths, etc.

The new mom may think she has all the big items, but she's probably not thinking about needing 50 wash cloths each day because babies dribble & drool constantly !

Here's an idea: Buy BEABA® Babycook Pro Baby Food Maker in Latte/Mint from Bed Bath & Beyond

Also, some great possibilities here:The Ultimate Baby Shower Gift Guide 2013

I like to give books on baby/kid photos ( books about how to take good pictures of your kids). Or a gift certificate for having photos done...
