Seriously, I think I could go fishing with Bill Clinton and George Bush and we'd have a great time CATCHING FISH, maybe talking football or music....who knows....but picking geographical areas so you don't have to *mix* is decidedly anti-liberal now isn't it?
That may be, Mathguy, but you are the exception, methinks. A friend of mine went to look at homes in Tucson and get a feel for the area. She hightailed it back here to Oregon because of the 'red-neck' attitude of the republicans she met. It made her extremely uncomfortable. I have my opinion on this subject but this isn't the thread for expressing it.

Wow, we must have the same friend. I got the exact same response from my retired friend. "Won't affect me by the time it kicks in." I mean, what is there to say to people like that?

This is an interesting topic. If you'd like to discuss it, please start a new thread rather than hijacking this one. Thanks.

Golly, chewed out on my first post in the forum. LOL

Sorry, I wasn't trying to hijack the thread, just trying to gauge how "liberal" the area might really be.

Naaaahhhhh, you didn't get chewed out. It is an interesting question, and is not necessarily a question of liberal or conservative. There are lots of differing views and lots of different types of liberals and conservatives. And many people somewhere in between.

Just don't get in anyone's face...and I'm sure people will tolerate you. Try not to start protesting everything, or being bitter at every turn.

The town we live in (Chico Ca.) is also called Berkely East. This town is so political and politcally correct that we can not wait to move (and my wife is a liberal) to Prescott. It is possible for politics to ruin a beautiful town. We have friends of all or no persuasion as it should be.

Without diversity in life things would get rather boring.
I lived for a few months in a primarily Mormon town in SE AZ.
Now my wife was a Mormon when I married her many years ago but I am not a religious person. I am the black sheep in the family as I am the only one married to 7 children that is not Mormon.
Yet living in a town where everyone had the same point of view and was afraid of what someone else might think was rather boring.
Maybe it's because I grew up in a military town that seemed to have a wide variety of people in it. Beats me.
Prescott seems to have the right mix of people for me however.

They don't have to be mutually exclusive. Good luck to you.
Thank you for saying that. I was beginning to wonder if I had missed something for 65 years. I had never thought of culture and politics having anything to do with each other. Also, does everybody in any family ever think totally alike about politics. If so, then some members of this family are not necessary. This OP sounds like a control freak.

By the way, when I was a young man I lived just some 20 miles or so from Berkley, or Bezerkly as we called it then in the late 50s and 60s before I got drafted.
I would never have called it politically correct during that time.

I also attended a course at the university there for a few months in the 80s. It had toned down quite a bit but was still a unique town.

By the way, Prescott is full up on CA people. I think you need a green card or something now to stay here. I was born and raised in CA and was only permitted to move here from SE AZ as I married a native of AZ.
