Minimum Security Prison Proposed for Prescott Valley

It's a terrible idea for my hometown! I can't believe anyone is considering it for Prescott Valley. It would look terrible, and no one would want to move to Prescott Valley. Everyone everywhere would only think about the prison, not the beautifull small town as a good place to raise a family or retire anymore. It would hurt the economy; many people would move away. We're not even going to have enough water as it is within the next 10 or so years. Excluding that, it's a horrible idea for a small town. They should put it somewhere between North Phoenix and Flagstaff, near I 17, away from the good people in a small town.

They can't put it out in the middle of nowhere. I know NIMBY really applies to a prison, but it has to be somewhere near some level of population and reasonable driving distance for potential employees.

I used to live and work in Florence. A VERY safe town, with the main prison right across the road. If anyone escaped, they went out north or south, not into town, where everyone could tell who didn't belong.

But, since post #82 says the town decided against it, I guess this thread is moot now.
