I have narrowed down the city to move to down to Prescott, Henderson/Las Vegas, or Boise. Right now, I would say I'm closer to 75% most likely to go to Prescott.

I would like to rent a home for the first year in order to learn the area, and make sure its the place I want to be (never been there).

I have 3 daughters, so I need to be somewhat near the best schoools (one in high school, one middle, one elementary). I will be bringing at least 5 cars, 3 of which need to be parked inside.

So, I know this is WAY early, but I'm only going to have 1-2 weeks to find a place when I get there. If I have to go to hotels or rent a furnished place temporarily, so be it. If anyone knows of a good house that will be coming available in the summer, it would be great to seal the deal ahead of time. Otherwise, I look at Craigslist pretty much daily.

1. Good area
2. 3 or preferrably 4 bedrooms
3. 3 car garage/shop
4. under 2k a month
5. No pets

If this is reasonable, or anyone has any ideas, all help/comments appreciated. Thanks

Just move here and worry about the small stuff later. Get a good realtor (and check craigslist and other sources too) and you've got it it made. Its a good town with friendly people.

A long weekend or a week's visit might be time well-spent, first.

I highly recommend you move here. Do what ever research you need to do but don't worry to much, people here are friendly and for the most part people work together very well here. If your looking for a friendly peaceful, calm and normal place you will be very satisfied moving here.

If you are going to rent I'd suggest Prescott Valley as the rent is much cheaper. That gives you time to look at the entire area before deciding to buy. You mentioned that you have several cars to park outside. Prescott Valley doesn't enforce laws about having cars (running or not) in your yard whereas Prescott might be more picky.

I moved here a year ago and rented in PV. There is no way I would live in this city. If I decide to stay I will buy in Prescott. Much cleaner, quieter and a more honest government. Good luck.
