Money magazine's October issue just named Prescott as the #3 place in the country to retire. We were beat out by Walla Walla, WA and St. Simons Island, GA.

Prescott feels like a real community, who can deny that? & the weather is pleasant. That can't be said for most places in Arizona.
The downside is the growth and the traffic. It's not good, and it's getting worse all the time. I hear longtime residents bemoan the growth frequently (even those with businesses that prosper from the migration of newcomers). To someone from Southern California (as an example), driving around Prescott (and even that abyssmal mess in Prescott Valley) seems tolerable. I personally believe that the bloom was off the Prescott rose a long time before the "best places to live" publications and media hype hit their targets. |

Weird. I was born in Prescott, live 60 miles from St Simons and currently would probably prefer NE Tennesse. LOL!
