My Husband and I are in the process of moving to the Prescott area, and are seeking employment for this December 2007. We are both experienced candidates, and haven't heard back from any Employers (we've sent several dozen resumes out over the past month). We are seeking employment with any company that will allow us to get our foot in the door.

Is the employment minimal in this area? We are discouraged and confused, as we aren't hearing back from anyone (and it's been a month)! Does anyone know any companies/organizations that might be hiring, or are we out of luck?

Thanks so much for your help!

I am experienced in banking/customer service, my Husband has experience in management/customer service. We did try the placement agencies today, hopefully we will here something soon. We aren't even hearing back from retail stores, and it's right before the holidays... eek!?

Avas - have you tried searching the Daily Courier online (especially Sunday) or www.BetterPrescottJobs.com (broken link)? Be prepared to wait a long time to hear back from the banks. My daughter applied at several and was finally hired; however after she had accepted that position, she got calls for interviews at some of the other banks two to three months later!

You'll probably do much better applying for jobs other than retail or banking or clerical. There was a report in the newspaper the other day where they interviewed either the City or the County. They said that on the clerical-type jobs they'll get over 200 applications!

Take a look at that Better Prescott Jobs site - seemed like they had quite a few different types of jobs there. I wish you the best!

In my opinion, unless you have secured jobs in Prescott don't move there. Only 2 pages of employment opportunities is a big sign that jobs are not easy to come by. In AZ, Phoenix and Tucson are the best areas for job opportunities. If you're retired, financially secure or you're self employed than the whole state is open to you. If not, then you have to go where the jobs are. I would prefer to live in Prescott over Phoenix or Tucson of course but we all have bills to pay. I prefer a smaller town or a rural area, so I have found a property 25 miles outside of Tucson and commute to work in the city. A small price to pay for getting the best of both worlds.

You are telling the truth! I would love to live in Prescott but there's no way we'd find jobs up there.
