who here can enlighten me as to what is going on on 89 South from CV to near Ruger Road ? I can see that conduit pipe is being laid down and reels of cable on side of road . then further North on 89 some pretty hefty steel poles supporting wiring . it has me wondering what that is all about . somebody has to know !

They might be working on the re-alignment and widening of 89 to Chino.

Highway 89 widening project to start in fall - Chino Valley Review - Chino Valley, Arizona

Quote:
Chino Valley area residents will have an easier time traveling back and forth from the community to the Prescott area on Highway 89 after a long-awaited widening project is completed, but drivers will need a big dose of patience while the work is underway.

I see the conduit pipe and wonder the reason for that. I can't say for sure but the black cable looks like the same cable they ran through CV recently, and it is for the cable. CV now has sidewalks on south side and a monument of 3 horses and a sign that reads, "Welcome to Chino Valley".

Not that I mind laying in more cable/internet infrastructure, but I wonder if that was a bigger motivation for "widening" the road than easier commutes

I think the motivation is obvious. Have you driven between Prescott and Chino during rush hour? Two lanes does not a major arterial make. Haha, sounds like a proverb.

The same could be said for Iron Springs from Prescott to Skull Valley. The road was improved a little on the shoulders, but that was about it.

Oh, and they laid a bunch of cable.
