My wife and I are moving to the Prescott area at the end of October and will not know anyone in the area. We got the idea of putting together a list of folks who would be interested in meeting other couples and singles in the area to potentially start up friendships. We are both in her early 40s and are interested in meeting singles and couples in their 30s, 40s, 50s.

We were thinking about putting something together for November for people to meet up at Bill's Pizza or somewhere else downtown.

We have realized that making good friends as adults is not as easy as it was when we were younger. I left most of my family and friends in Chicago, and most of my wife's good friends and family are back in California.

If you were interested in being added to the list, please reply here or [please don't post email addresses and personal information here, or ask others to do so. People can also contact you through this forum by Direct Message.]

Don't forget to google Prescott Meetup.
Lots and lots of different groups.

Good luck!

You should actually receive a postcard from these guys (or a similar "welcome to the Prescott area" group) in the mail once you move in. I want to say it's C.A.T. (like New-Comers Around Town) but I can't for the life of me remember what it stood for. They have regular get-togethers.

The meetup suggestion was a good one - I took a quick look myself and found some interesting groups...

Other suggestions:

Church is always a good way to meet new people if you're religious
Events on the square (my neighbors have made many friends this way - I was a bit surprised to hear this)
Take a class for fun at the community college (they don't allow auditing but do have non-credit classes, as well as credit classes in "fun" subjects like pottery, painting, music, welding, woodworking, gardening, etc.)

a block party might be a good way for everybody to meet the immediate neighbors....have it outside in some cul-de-sac to keep it all-inclusive neighborly (less "partisan" than having it at one person's house)

I doubt you'll have any trouble making new friends here. We moved out here from New York not knowing a single soul and were surprised at how quickly we made friends. All of our old friends and relatives are still stuck back there, we do miss them. However, we have no desire to go back. We love it out here! Arizona is where we belong.
