Can anyone tell me if a developer has been chosen yet? If so, who?

This is the most recent news on the Theme Park and it is a little less than 5 months old, since they have posted nothing since, my guess is that they are still working on the details and negotiations before any official announcement.

Arizona Theme Park District Board moves forward in second meeting ... slowly

Marissa Freireich
Williams-Grand Canyon News Reporter

WILLIAMS, Ariz. - Operating as a brand new entity, the Arizona Theme Park District navigated its second meeting last week with caution, moving forward with baby steps.

Board members took action on three of the six items on their agenda, while asking for more information or saying it was too soon to decide on the remaining items.

Well sure, let's build a giant theme park in the middle of nowhere, in the dryest part of the country, where most people have to truck water in, where six months a year it freezes, and try to fleece some of the Grand Canyon tourism.

Cause Williams NEEDS a giant failed eyesore next to the freeway.

I think it's useless. They need to build a theme park in Phoenix not Williams not Eloy not Tucson but in the Phoenix metro. Why would I drive to Williams to attend a theme park when I can drive a little further to Anaheim. It makes no sense whatsoever.

I think a theme park will eventually be built here. The population here will grow to a point that it will be too tempting to pass up building some type of theme park even if it is a smaller one. But it probably won't be for another 20-30 years.

The real reason a theme park isn't being built here is not due to the heat. It's due to the enormous cost of building one in modern times. The land and technology costs too much. Realistically, you are looking at around $500 million to build a quality park which is too hefty of an investment for most private enterprise today.

Realistically, I think a new modern park in the Phoenix metro would draw a lot of outside visitors. Disney-Anaheim has a poor reputation. The area is considered to be in a bad area; it's nothing like Orlando. The hotels there are not great either. A brand spanking new park in a place like Scottsdale in which they could build new modern clean hotels would draw a lot of tourists even from L.A.. Orlando is amazing because it's a lot like Phoenix. It's very clean, modern, new and very "suburbia". It's easy to navigate and has plenty of land for all of it's parks.

Look at all the various business that feed off of Busch Gardens and Disney tourism.

Do you think some of these workers would live in areas around Ash Fork where you have to haul water? What is the likelihood of a technological discovery of an easy to access deeply located water?

Water hauling is cheap, and having water delivered is cheap but digging a deep well in Ash fork will cost you over 30k last time I checked.

Nothing says sustainable business idea like building in an area where we would need to have water hailed via truck to it

Eloy made much more sense than this. I have a hard time believing it's a heat issue(legend city, castles n coasters) Texas has a six flags and need I mention Florida.

Almost the entire state of AZs population lives between Phoenix and Tucson and for most of us it would take just as long to get to Magic Mountain. And I won't have to fight water haulers on my way there.

Hauling water for the Theme Park there would be a 24 hr caravan of delivery trucks to supply the would be 1000's of visitors daily. Drilling several wells for a commercial venture to supply 1000's of visitors daily would be prohibitive, in the $300,000-$500,000+ range. And the water commission would require a 100 year guarantee. Not appropriate or cost effective.
