Awesome idea. I will have to look at the zoning.

PV library exterior

Examples for lofts near civic center in PV for future development.

According to this map from 2011, the area around the civic center is mostly zoned for Commercial 'C2' (General Sales & Services). I'm sure the town counsel could change it to Residential 'R2' (Multiple Dwelling Units) high density housing. There is no way they can fill up all the land with commercial unless the chamber of commerce can attract some large corporation or a few fortune 500 companies to relocate here.

After reading all of the opinions / answers to this thread, no one mentioned the drug treatment "industry," either pro or con. Is it still an issue or just not a big enough deal to mention as an improvement to either expand it or end it?

It doesn't seem to be a big issue compared to how overly exaggerated it is by other people on the forums. I'd prefer both cities to completely eradicate rehab centers and the housing, and boost economic activity by other means necessary but that won't happen until city counsel says so by the will of the people. Some people are set in their ways and don't want to change.

Default To Keep In Mind...

The rehab issue is not as easy as it seems. There are questions related to fair housing, a federal law. We cannot just simply say no more and do away with them. Fair housing is why this has dragged out.

This is also a classic case of NIMBY - "not in my backyard." Most of us would agree that there has to be a solution for these people, but we just do not want it anywhere near us. But...they have to be near someone and those someones will always have the same NIMBY response.

Unfortunately, the Fair Housing act isn't perfect and it lets the rehab centers become out of control. Both cities, Prescott and PV are using it as a scapegoat for creating jobs by having people monitor the housing while the inhabitants are going through treatment. This itself, is unsustainable and reeks mediocrity. We need to attract better talent and more higher skilled labor workforce, that itself will make us a better community. But...like I mentioned earlier, there are people higher in the chain that setting their ways.

This article is spot on the 2017 resolution for the city. When a resident talks about lack of ethnic restaurants, look at what Prescott Valley and Prescott lack.

- No Vietnamese Restaurants, that serve Pho and other healthy ingredients.
- Lack of Chinese/Japanese Restaurants, (Panda Express doesn't count). Canton Dragon is good, been there a few times.
- European Restaurants
- Not many manufacturing jobs or blue collar income.
- Too much emphasis on retail and low wage income.

Pho is so good!

Yeah, I miss Vietnamese food. Closest thing is the Hawaiian ramen place. Not as good.

I agree with almost everything that you said, and would add Korean to the list. However, there are three Japanese restaurants - Fujiama, Esoji, and Ginza. There is also a Japanese sushi take-out in Prescott Valley called Sushi J Express. We have found that the sushi at Sprouts is the best of the grocery store options.

If you count Chi's Cuisine, there are 7 places that serve Thai food.

You can actually dine-in at Sushi J Express, but it's a stark table experience.
