Could not disagree more Granite! We specifically looked for a conservative area to move to. And by the way I am happy now, since we sent Brill and his ilk packing. Doin the happy dance, boy am I happy.

That's a crock of BS. Do you see conservatives or right leaning Independent people moving to Democratic strongholds like the west coast or northeast? Hardly, COL is through the roof, taxes are high, regulations are excessive, jobs are very competitive, and there's not much of a middle class. They're glorified third world sectors of the country. However, you want to 'recruit' your collective thinking to a conservative area and change it to the exact place you moved from. That's not being progressive, that's regressive.

I lived in the northeast, you couldn't pay me enough money to move back there. You've hit the nail right on the head. You've really gotta' experience living there to see how much the Liberals, Progressives, Democrats, Socialists what ever you want to call them, have made life all but unbearable for those of us in the middle. It's not living, it's existing.

Unfortunately it's gotten to the point where you have the elite ruling class and those who have become dependent on government outnumbering the middle class and vote accordingly. The cycle of dependency is not abating especially when you have tens of millions of illegal invaders being taken care of courtesy of the American taxpayer. Not to mention the tens of millions yet to come through our open borders. That's just how the Democrats and Rino's want to keep it. Their goal is to enslave the American public to a socialist aristocracy of which they will have absolute power and control over every aspect of our lives. If they really wanted to put a stop to this they could have done this years ago. It's now at the point of no return. I don't see this changing anytime soon if ever. The United States of America will one day become a socialist welfare state. Every time the Democrats take control of the government we take two steps further towards that goal. The Republicans? Maybe one step back, or at the very least put off the inevitable.

Quote:
There are 8 levels of control that must be obtained before you are able to create a socialist state. The first is the most important.

1 Healthcare—control healthcare and you control the people.

2 Poverty—increase the poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them to live.

3 Debt—increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and this will produce even more poverty.

4 Gun control—Remove the ability to defend themselves from the Government. That way you are able to create a police state.

5 Welfare—Take control of every aspect of their lives (food, housing, income).

6 Education—Take control of what people read and listen to–take control of what children learn in school.

7 Religion—Remove the belief in God from the Government and schools.

8 Class warfare—Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to take (tax) the wealthy with the support of the poor.

That being said, CA politicians have lost their collective minds on a few issues (and laws they've passed) they've pushed over the last few years. I worked in law enforcement for 31 years, 27 of them on the streets daily with people that many of the issues deal with (criminals, homeless, people in the country illegally) so I plenty of experience to back up my opinions and don't hear ANY of it on the "news".

I'll just add that I'm from the same background and am similarly conservative. The political climate here in CA, along with endless nanny laws being put on the books, is a primary reason why I was looking at conservative leaning areas of AZ. To that end, the political climate is something I am seeking out.

Wow. Sounds bad.

Never been to the NE, nor wish to. I was thinking of a move to Prescott, but after reading this thread, I'm not sure.

I guess I'll switch my mind back to Idaho, as I really want to stay in the west.

What specifically that you read would cause you to change your mind bout Prescott? I'm just curious and not trying to change your mind.

I have family and numerous ex co-workers spread out all over Idaho so I'm up there once a year and like anyplace, it has it's own set of issues. I tried to get my wife to buy a rental in Boise in 2012 when my son was at Boise State. Back then, there were 3BR/2BA places for $100K and those prices have tripled since. Just like Prescott, the entire Treasure valley area has exploded due to people moving in. Interestingly enough, on the Boise board, people complain about: outsiders driving up housing costs, low paying jobs, traffic, increased crime and lack of decent medical care....sound familiar?

Government is too big and too involved in our lives whether left or right. Over-reach is a huge problem and causes a decrease in personal responsibility and freedom. I'm not confident in republicans', let alone democrats', desire to govern as was intended.

Prescott is already pricing out the middle class for the most part. I've looked at housing prices just out of curiosity and its a joke. Not many good paying jobs, lack of affordable housing, too many rich retirees from California and horrible baby boomer drivers. The motto 'Welcome to Everybody's Hometown' is nonsense. The biggest culprit is the city counsel for continuing the unsustainable mess and they encourage it.

Default I am a baby boomer

There are just as many aggressive young people who are driving pick up trucks and small cars around this area. So do not blame everything on us Boomers. I do not know why us Boomers are blamed for everything that is negative. When I was growing up we respected the Senior Citizens, not bash them time and time again. Other countries the elderly are respected. If a elderly person enters the bus people younger than them will give up their seat out of respect. Us baby boomers were raised completely different than the generations after us. We were responsible for chores at home, nothing was given to us because in those days for the most part women stayed home to raise their kids and the kids were taught a work ethic, we worked hard for what we have now. Our parents did not have a lot of money and what little money they had was not spent on their kids but was saved because our parents lived through the Depression. . Us baby boomers fought in Vietnam, a undeclared war that many men and some women died for this country.

Yes, as our bodies age, we do not drive as fast as the younger people. We move slower. We have gray hair. We are old but know that what is happening to our country and to Prescott and area, is about greed and greed is in the Republican Party and the Democratic Party.
