Looking at the map going from Prescott to Goodyear, which route is better and less traffic usually-17 south to 10 west or the 303 loop ? They are almost the same mileage and time wise. Thanks in advance !

I would think 89 South to 93 East to Wickenburg from there take 60 South to 303 to 10 East? It's about 20 minutes longer but you'll avoid a lot of traffic. But there are a lot of switchbacks between Prescott and Wilhoit to be aware of.

I've done this drive many times as I live in Goodyear. If you prefer the 17 (rather than 89 S) definitely take the 303. There's rarely any traffic on the 303 and it'll take you right to the 10 where you can go east or continue straight through and the 303 will dump you right off on Cotton Ln depending on where you're going in Goodyear.

Personally, I'd take I-17 south to loop 303. If you drive that way, take it during non-peak hours like early in the morning or late in the afternoon past 7pm to avoid traffic.

Thanks Gixxer, this is the route I was thinking would be the most direct. Taking hubby to the Abrazo West Hospital off 10 East. He has to check in at 11:30 AM Tuesday, wonder how much time to allow ?

Thanks Hschlick, I was thinking this would be the best route, wasn’t sure what the 303 was like. Hubby has to be at the Abrazo West Hospital at 11:30 AM Tuesday, traffic might not be too bad at that time of day? Leaving from Prescott

Thanks Ex NY-that would probably be a less trafficy route and prettier too, but don’t want to do switchbacks as it might be raining Tue AM when we’ll be traveling there 😑

If you don't want to do the switchbacks you can also take Iron Springs Rd. to Kirkland and make a left right past the Kirkland Bar & Steakhouse, that will put you on Kirkland Valley Rd. and will take you right to 89.

Looking at the map aren’t the switchbacks on 89 between Yarnell and Congress ? That part looks like a ribbon !

If you're referring to where the Hotshots Memorial is? Yes there are but they're not that bad, and we've gone both ways. We've been down there a lot just for the hell of it. It's absolutely beautiful there.
