I'm looking up hotels for this upcoming weekend and there are hardly any available rooms. Expedia says that over 97% of the rooms are booked already. I found a couple of rooms available but they priced over $350 (for a 2-3 star hotel). Is this normal? Is there something going on in town this weekend?

I've never been in Prescott before, but have heard great things.

Try calling the hotels directly?

We stayed at the La Quinta last month and it was really nice. I just checked; they have rooms available this weekend although the rates are high. Not $350 high though.

The La Quinta on the way into town on the 69 used to be a Wyndham and it is pretty nice. It is too early for the Rodeo so I wonder what is going on in town?

I couldn't find any major events this weekend - Whiskey Off-Road is later this month, and the Whiskey Row Marathon is in early May.

City of Prescott event page didn't show anything big - just the normal meetings and weekend small concerts/performances.

Even next weekend doesn't look much better. I'd say it's just Phoenix people getting out of the heat, but it's not even hot there this weekend - next week looks like another story...

It's all the people from out of town coming to do house searches with realtors and/or having meetings with builders to build their homes for when they move to town.

I beat the crowd then. We came a month ago to interview a realtor and ended up buying a house. We move in 4 weeks!
