Maybe if you welcome them to LA hard enough they will all leave Arizona and give us a rest from their crime, flags and protests

Just to make it clear, although I think everybody understands me, the "WE" in "WE welcome illegals to CA" does not include ME. It's "THEY" the government and others who make CA so receptive to illegal aliens.
That's a big part of the reason I am attracted to AZ. I have to flee this craziness before I go bonkers.

I understand completely, Lovehound . . . as I have posted previously, one of the primary reasons I relocated to Arizona from California about ten years ago.
My only regret . . . I waited so long.

Looks like Cal has gone so far to the extreme left-wing - so hard-core liberal - that it will take a great effort by reasonable, more conservative people, in order to recover. They shouldn't be afraid to back out, and back off from the craziness. They shouldn't continue on in fear - fear that the extreme groups will "get mad", and threaten to take these matters to court, or something.
It sounds like they should fight back in greater numbers, and take these crazies to court, especially when the state is in such turmoil. Seriously, the extreme groups have been allowed to turn a once very wonderful state into a circus of extreme problems.
If the concern is that a different kind of extreme group (an extremely conservative right-wing group) could come in and do harm in another direction, then there may need to be additional help. There will need to be good mediators and good watchdog groups to ensure that the best way happens for both extremes.

The reasonable, more conservative people already left, or like me are preparing to leave.
And the worst thing about the hard core liberals and the state and city governments is that they do not know they are crazy. Not knowing that they are not aware that anything needs changing. They're well on the way to having a civilization based upon illegal immigrants.
I'm almost ready to retire, or maybe already did. I don't have the energy to try to help fix things, nor the interest in exerting myself for such a big job, when it's so easy to just move away and find some better, more interesting place to live. I wonder what the state will be like when most of the sane people have departed...

My guess is that it will end up like most civilizations do, when no more can be done to repair the excess and the damage which was done (e.g. Egypt, Rome, Napoleon, Hitler, etc): they eventually fall apart.
The previous "empire" and its leaders will crumble - and the land will lay ready for others to enter - hopefully with more reasonable ideas.

For California, I think the problems will worsen with so many poor, uneducated people moving in from south of the border. I think that the state will have greater and greater strains placed upon the infrastructure, with more and more people working for cash wages, not paying taxes, not having medical insurance and flooding the emergency rooms for non-emergency treatment. The state and cities will raise taxes to cover the widening deficit which will place the burden upon middle and upper classes. The upper classes will be able to afford the additional taxes without much difficulty but more and more middle class people will choose to relocate to states that don't hound them so much, leaving California with poor people, rich people, and ever fewer middle class people such as myself. The government will no longer be able to balance the budget on the backs of the middle class, there are just too few rich people to support the state, the poor people won't have any money (or any visible means of support) and there will be a major financial crisis for the state and the cities. The infrastructure will begin failing and the hard core liberals will have to face up to the fact that the state's economy can't handle all the illegal aliens, but by then it will be too late to send them home.
Okay I'm not an economist. Maybe that's not how it will crumble, but you know there's a train wreck ahead.

"...leaving California with poor people, rich people, and ever fewer middle class people such as myself."
Sounds very much like so many third world countries.

California Drop Out Rate
Having lived in California most of my life, I am also saddened at the changes that I see. While I am fortunate to live in a great city, Irvine, I remember it in 1979 when it was charming and slow-paced...now...of course...it's grown and expanded and the pace is definitely not slow. Schools are great, and I doubt we'd make any type of move until my youngest graduates in 2013.
I have been looking at other areas, such as AZ, TX and AL, where I can find a larger home with some land around me. My husband and I are taking the kids to Scottsdale next month for a week or so. Doesn't hurt to look at houses, check out jobs, etc. I am very happy to hear that AZ turns the illegals over to ICE. They're breaking the law for Pete's sake!
Now this is very depressing (and telling). Heard today that California has a 24% drop out rate! What is going on in these schools? You hear the teachers' unions complaining that they don't have enough money. Come on! They tax the hell out of us here. I had to take my stimulus check to pay my state taxes. I know I'm paying for illegals, their schooling, health care, and social services. I know that employers are leaving the state in droves.
Looking forward to that AZ vacation.
