Ahh, if only this was a one-time event. The amount of illegals that have been apprehended over the past year in Yavapai County, and Arizona in general, is staggering.

At least you arrest them. Here in Los Angeles we send out the welcome wagon. The police are forbidden from asking any questions in regard to immigration status. San Francisco gives them asylum. California's government is nuts at every level.

Extremely sad, isn't it, Lovehound?
One of the primary reasons I decided to relocate to Arizona a few years ago.
I wish you well.

I'm surely working on my plan to get out of CA and move to a place with more sanity. I welcome the news that AZ at least makes some effort to make life difficult for illegal immigrants. The fact that AZ has no daylight saving time is also good. I'm giving serious thought to moving to either AZ or NM because both are better than where I am now (IMO). And since I'm planning on retiring very soon I may have the opportunity.

ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) has really cracked down on the illegals here in AZ. It was not always this way, but the past couple of years the amount of apprehenions has sky-rocketed and employers are being held accountable. I work for the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office and I have seen great leaps forward on this issue over the past 20 years.

Welcome wagon? Asylum? Sheesh...
Don't get me wrong... I can understand to a point the plight of illegal immigrants, but hey, they're still breaking the law.
California needs to get the priorities straight, and it should be: obey the laws of the land - then go on from there.

Californians I speak to have got it right. It's the government that's got it wrong. I'm beginning to worry who my fellow Californians are voting for. Enough so that I'm thinking of defecting to AZ or NM.
Really, CA is whacky, life out of balance. I don't understand this place anymore.

California native, born here, raised here, had my career here. I've lived here so long I'm embarrassed to say how long. There's a lot to like about the California that once was, and I loved the place back then, intended to spend my whole life here.
Somewhere California lost the way, the state government went crazy and drove business away, drove away the industry I made my living in (electronic manufacturing). The city and county governments went tax crazy, taxing everything that moved and everything that didn't move. Now they're talking about raising the sales tax over 9 percent. Meanwhile the federal government opened the gates to uncontrolled immigration from third world countries (Mexico, Central and South America) and the character of California and Los Angeles is changing, destroying most of the things I loved.
The only thing they didn't screw up was the weather.
