I just attended the Prescott Valley Town Council meeting last night. The folks at YRMC announced the final plans for a new premier Birthing Center at the Prescott Valley hospital. The new center will feature single-room birthing based on the labor-delivery-recovery-postpartum (LDRP) model. This model allows for a larger, private room where the family can be present together during the birthing experience. One of the biggest concerns of mothers is that they are immidiately removed from the place where their child was born. In the new center, the mother will not be moved from the birthing room to another room after the birth.

Construction should begin towards the end of 2008 and be completed around the first quarter of 2010.

Any more news on this? Do we know when the estimated opening date is? We SO need this in PV so we don't have to travel through the construction slow and go into Prescott. Where can we go to find more information on this or who can we contact? Thanks! :-)

I don't know if they broke ground yet. I'll try to find out.

Oh thank you so much! I have heard from several sources that they hope for it to be done by Spring 2010, but I don't know how sure they are of it. Don't want to get hopes up you know? :-) Thanks again!

I called the city planning department. YRMC has definitely broken ground on the project. The city did not know what the estimated completion date is.
