Young's Farm did, indeed, close, but it used to be one of the great fun places in Yavapai County. They had a general store where one could buy all sorts of home grown stuff, from freshveggies and turkeys to jam to homespun clothing! Also farm animals to see and pet, a haybarn with a big, long slide, a pond one could play and boat in...lots of family fun. There were numerous festivals during the year, culminating with a big harvest Pumpkin Festival in October. It's sad to see it gone, we had many, many hours of family fun there, eating, shopping, listening to music...it was an iconic place and will be sorely missed. I used to love their home made pumpkin ice cream!!!

Yup, Young's Farm was an Arizona treasure. . . quoting a part of a song by my friend Lon Austin
Let's all go rattlesnake dreaming,
Up where the stars touch the sky.
We'll stop and Youngs Farm, for a story or song
and maybe some good pumpkin pie. . . .
Youngs farm will be long missed!

Every time I drive by the old Young's Farm location, I just want to cry. It's gone from being that quintessential old-fashioned family farm/general store to just being an eyesore of overgrown weeds and abandoned buildings.
How sad that this happened to a true Arizona landmark!

I read something a while back that the Young brothers moved the operation to Paulina, Oregon (they were pressured into selling to developers). I know they are ranching cattle there, but as to ice cream? If they do have anything to do with it, you can bet it's good stuff!
Now is about the time they would be having their pumpkin festival. What a shame. Another Arizona icon (Young's Farm, Legend City etc) put to rest. Hope they are doing well up in Oregon.

They sold small farm equipment and they let you test drive it. That was fun,
