When I used to go out here (I still do, but not as often now, because it's boring really), people at the bars are so dead and don't like talking to people they don't know (that's the whole magic of them, to meet NEW people).

And when there is a band, hardly to none, ever dance or anything (isn't the whole point to have fun and dance when there is a live band playing in town??). SHEEEEESH!!!

And if you go into a bar here and don't drink (you order a Coke or something like that) then some idiot comes up to you and says, "YOU'RE DRINKING A COKE!!!! THAT'S A DISGRACE!!". They love to embarrass you up so bad when you don't drink an alcohol beverage. They whole point is to have fun, not get wasted and be stupid!! Sheesh, it's too uptight for me!!
I'm moving to Prescott from Minnesota in Nov. Apparently I better take my Obama sticker off my car before I enter the state.

Don't be silly. There are more than a few Obama stickers on cars and in windows. There were many Obama rallies and fundraisers during the election campaign and Democrats are alive and well in Prescott. We too are from MN and have not experienced the many negative things that posters comment on.

All of AZ is conservative. Prescott is a little less so than other areas.

very obviously a vast generalization....on average, the entire state will go more conservative than the nation....but there are all types here, as in any state....ultra conservative to ultra liberal.....variety is the spice of life, you know.....

you know, with all those Californians in Prescott now, you gotta wonder if it'll bend a little to the left now....don't forget the ancient joke: "why is Cali like granola??....take away the fruits and nuts and all you got are the flakes"....

Another vast generalization (about Californians). You might be surprised how many conservatives are in the state. I suspect the majority of Californians moving to the Prescott area would be more conservative in nature, rather than the "granola" you refer to. Don't judge them all by the stereotype. As you said about AZ, there are all types in CA as well. Funny how you defame a generalization on one hand, then toss one out with the other.

Don't pay attention to the man behind the curtain!

There are PLENTY of Democrats and liberals in Prescott. The old guard is changing and the conservatives running for office want to do away with impact fees etc to start unbribeled growth again.

This brings in more and more liberals.

I am a Democrat/Liberal..depending on the issue. Prescott is definetely a Republican Town. Gee, when I meet people I don't ask their religion or their political stance. I attended a spiritual church on Willow Creek road for years and I am just starting to go back. I find the people of this area to be friendly and warm. I find people of Arizona to be friendly and warm.

I would guess that people have two definitions of 'conservative' - social and fiscal. Social conservatives are against abortion, against gay marriage, believe we are a Christian nation, etc. Fiscal conservatives believe in personal responsibility, private enterprise, balanced budget, less government, etc. I would agree that Prescott is conservative, but I do not know what percentages are social vs. fiscal conservatives or both.
