Can anyone tell me what is it like around the Camp Verde area? Is it a livable area?

I like it, it's a town with a western feel and I always enjoy going there. There is a little downtown strip (kinda quaint) where you can walk and shop and grab a bite to eat. It's very livable but jobs there may be a problem.

Hi Adventuregurl, Yes there seems to be a problem finding jobs everywhere these days. But I do understand your point about how small a town Camp Verde is. Isn't there a Casino close to there?

Camp Verde is a small, scenic, western town on the banks of the Verde River. Quaint but not a place to find great work. I think a lot of the residents work in Cottonwood, to the north. The Indian Casino is nearby, a very nice place to gamble, see a show, have dinner.

So how far is it from Camp Verde to say Cottonwood, Prescott, Flagstaff? I think maybe I am unable to realize how far these cities are from each other. Perhaps it is from living in the Seattle area and thinking of going from a suburb to another.

They are not at all like suburbs of each other, they are miles apart! I live in West Sedona and can get to Camp Verde in 50 minutes, 45 if I really push it. Cottonwood to Camp Verde seems closer than 30 minutes to me but I guess it depends what part of town you are coming from and going to...and how fast you go .

P.S. going to Prescott is like a day trip for me...it's about 3 hours driving round trip plus the time it takes to shop etc. when you're there....it's not something I like to do often.

Default Adventuregurl

Hi.. Do you know if the area, Cottonwood/Clarkdale is prone
to ANY flooding because of the river? I notice some homes
that are close to the river OR have riverfront property.. have
what is called flood/irrigation ditches. Are these mainly to help
keep the home from flooding or mainly for irrigation of property?
Thanks!

Not usually, but in rainy years the Verde HAS flooded and people HAVE lost property. This is not an every year occurance, but when Mother Nature makes lots of rain, the Verde becomes a torrent.

Can anyone tell me about Williams? I'm just kinda going through each city to see what is there. Williams looks close to Flagstaff and Prescott. What is Williams like?
