Yuma is severly struggling. With a very high unemployment problem. If your husband ever lost his job there you would be stuck or forced to move somewhere else. It's far from being the "it" city. First time I heard anyone call it that.

I know Twin Falls:
We have 2 homes, one in Twin Falls and another in a small Idaho town 180 miles away. My wife lives in Twin, I live down the road. We plan on keeping the one I live in for summer and selling out in Twin Falls and getting one in a southern state for winter when we retire. Twin is nice and the Mormans there are not an issue. It is too cold and windy for my liking to live there in the winter when we retire. I do love alot of things around the magic valley, but to winter in Idaho anywhere in my old age is out of the question, if I can help it. The only downside to Twin is its a farming community and the mexican population is out of hand. Crime is increasing but its still low. Good paying jobs are hard to find. Property values are going up but still not out of hand...........Captain_s54

Do Not Move To Prescott Valley
Whatever you do, DO NOT MOVE TO PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ!!!! I bought my first house there, lived there for 4 years, then moved. I rent out the property, but it's a complete nightmare dealing with the town of PV. It's not the tenants fault, they're great people! Prescott Valley thinks that they are the ultimate Home Owners Association. They will fine you for any chance they get. If tumbleweeds blow onto your property, they will fine you. If you park a car in the wrong spot, they will fine you. DO NOT MOVE THERE! It was the biggest mistake I have ever made. Even if you cover a vehicle, they fine you. I was fined $1500 for having a car covered and 3 tumble weeds! Now, they want to auction my property because they didn't send me the notice for the sewer assessment payment. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

I remember reading that Walla Walla has a seasonal dust problem. The eastern part of WA has huge wind-blown deposits of soil, it's called loess.
Your best bet for clean air will be along the coast.

If you have kids, AVOID PRESCOTT and PRESCOTT VALLEY! Dewey-Humboldt, too. These are all RETIREMENT towns and families with kids are treated like DIRT! The schools are not good, the libraries are lousy and even the young people are nasty and ill-mannered. Families with kids should choose somewhere else because they will definitely NOT like living with the entitlement-attitudes of the retirees. They think that because they are old the world OWES them everything. These old people want every amenity but don't want the very working class people that make these possible. It is a terrible mind-set they have! They will let a heavy door slam in your child's face as they rush into Wal-mart or a restaurant. It is really awful.

Lake Havasau, AZ has the cleanest air in the nation. Seems like it would be the perfect fit for you and your family.

I grew up in Lake Havasu City.......Dont bring a family to that town. Its a great place to party. I moved to Prescott Valley and now I raise my family here. I am going to put my daughter in Liberty Traditional School. It is excelling in Arizona school ratings. The major problem is that Prescott Valley is contemplating a minimum security prison soooooo I would stear towards Prescott......unless they dont build the prison... I think they decide on it on Oct. 25

Prescott/Prescott Valley would be a huge no-no. There is absolutely nothing for kids to do there. When we were up there with our son at my parent's vacation home - my son was talking to the other local teenage kids and the "highlight" of "things to do" there for them is sitting in front of the court house strumming their guitars. Those kids are bored out of their skulls. My son walked away thanking his lucky stars that he was not being raised there after some of what the kids told him. My parent's neighbors up there cannot wait to move out of there because their kids have nothing to do except cause trouble with the other local kids for fun.

Obviously you dont live here. There is plenty to do for kids here. They have a pool open during the summer. YMCA pool indoors in Prescott. There is also the mall, hockey games, many concerts and different venues at the Tims Toyota Center (hockey rink) movie theatre and that is to just name a few. I really think that you have to live here and not just visit to get more involved and know what a town is like and what they have to offer. Prescott doesnt have as much for the kids as prescott valley but it is only a hop skip and jump away.
