I can tell by your tone and CAPITALIZATION that you're really a very nice person with no cattiness or arrogance at all. Really.

Thank you for contributing to a thread that asks what you like about Prescott.

Now, it may be time to create a thread about what you don't like about Prescott so you can tell us all the good things about the area.

You also think I am polluting the thread. No, I am just not giving YOU what YOU want to hear! That simple.
I've run across this same problem, as has anyone who speaks out about the issues that are plaguing this area. Apparently some people get very upset and attack if you say anything critical about the town.

What you are experiencing is "normal". Just ignore them. You see, they made a life changing move and are moving or just have moved into the area. They don't want to hear anything that will take away from "their moment". If there is any hint that it's not perfect, or that there are serious issues in the area, this shatters their dreams and makes them second guess their decision.

Just like people don't like to hear when someone tells them that their kids are bad. Ask any parent going to a parent teacher conference and the school teacher informs the parent that their child is having issues. Man O' man. The parent becomes all defensive and begins to attack the teacher. They will not accept the fact that their is something wrong. They resort to attacking the teacher who informed of the problem about their child.

The same happens here. The people have such strong feelings because they moved AWAY from a worse city and came to this area, and in their hearts, they believe it is "perfect", or as perfect as any city can get. And they don't want anyone raining on their parade or shattering that hope. A lot of time, money, energy and life changing moves were done when they relocated to the area. Accepting that their decision could be a mistake or that the area is not what they thought it would be, would have a devastating psychological impact on them, causing such problems as depression, regret and denial.

THANK YOU! It isn't that I have all the time in the world to "Bash" Prescott, but I see how many things could be different, progress and BETTER. I would hate to have sold my house in San Diego, thinking I am moving to A "perfect little city" and arrive to so many issues. I do appreciate the support and understanding that Prescott could be a good city and NEEDS help from the community and people outside of this community. There seems to be such a disconnect from the "real world" to Prescott. Sometimes we do not have a choice of where to live (Job responsibilities, family responsibilities, etc..). However, those looking to voluntarily make Prescott their permanent residence, should know what they are signing up for!

Therefore, since I am here, as my permanent USA address, it is my responsibility to help any way I can. I am part of this community and I cannot say things that are untrue. Maybe it is baby-steps, but I am doing my best, to get better health care, education, community services and basic civil liberties for the residents of Prescott. Why is that such a bad thing and why would anybody want to argue that point?

Everything I have written, are facts. If anybody watches television or goes to certain web sites, we know that the "fringe" will argue against the facts. As a scientist and a human being, it IS my responsibility to make Prescott safer for people who visit or live here.

Thank you again.

You presume a great deal and, based on your posting history here, are constantly banging your drum about the woes of Prescott. Perhaps if you balanced your opinions with some positive, you wouldn't appear to have such a whistle-blower mentality. And who gets defensive if they're not agreed with? Think about that, sir and madam.

This thread obviously asked about what you like about Prescott, but neither of you could muster anything positive to say. If you want to rant about the negative why not start a different thread about the problems? Wait, Dell has done that on many occasions--so why not use them to rant in rather than spewing more anti-establishment rhetoric in a thread where it's out of place?

Your opinions are interesting and valid, of course, whether they are agreed with or not--but your forum courtesy is lacking. Anyway, all this will probably get deleted or edited, such is the way of the forum moderation. Would be nice if the moderator could split the negative out of the thread and create an appropriate topic to contain all the complaining and ranting.

I am sorry that I did not know this thread was a little "click" of people, that do not see the truth! The reason why I posted, even though I don't really need to explain myself to you, is because "other" people read this thread. Not just people like you, Sir, Ma'am, that simply blows smoke up everybody's skirt. It is about Marketing and Public Relations.

If an individual is looking, seriously, about Prescott, they should have ALL of the information, not just what YOU want to give to them. So, exclusivity went out in the 60's, so catch up! It is 2009. We are a technological world now. Prescott can't continue to hide behind "What is GREAT". They want to know everything possible.

So, I did tell you what I like about Prescott; it is a city that COULD be great! Prescott has so much potential. Only if people like yourself realize there are a whole host of issues, needing to be addressed, will we have a fundamentally advanced city. Better services, more activities for our youth, less corruption, less drug abuse. That is what I LIKE ABOUT PRESCOTT, the challenge!

So please, don't treat others, who post their opinions of what THEY like about Prescott as an outsider. We are NOT outsiders. We are actually doing something, to make Prescott better. Are you?

Don't sweat the perpetual Prescott bashers, they actually do us a small service by keeping the easily fooled and reactionaries out of our area.
Think of them as Chlorine in the pool.

This is EXACTLY what I am talking about; "keep them out". Yes, Prescott has successfully, so far, kept out any GOOD to come to this city. Any health care, any services, etc.. The "Good ol' Boys Club" keeps out GOOD doctors. I am baffled why you do not want to see your town get better? Unless there are people here (which is pretty obvious) that have the blinders on and see only what they want to see.

Just give Prescott a chance to progress. This is not Utah, where we can make our own rules and pick and choose. We are an open society. You don't have to strive for better, but that is a shame for you and Prescott!
